Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording element substrate that has a projection for suppressing mist from being generated and that can suppress the projection from breaking and also remove a droplet and foreign matter sticking on an outer edge part of a discharge port.SOLUTION: A recording element substrate 100 comprises: a substrate 1; an energy generation element 2 which is arranged on one surface of the substrate 1 and generates energy to be used to discharge liquid; and a discharge port formation member 8 having a discharge port 9 for discharging the liquid formed. A projection 11 which projects into each discharge port 9 is formed on an inner side face of the discharge port 9, a tip part of the projection 11 is positioned on a side closer to the substrate 1 than an outer edge part 12 of the discharge port 9 on a surface 8a, on a side farther from the substrate 1, of the discharge formation member 8.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
