Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable even a musical instrument beginner to play fast-tempo music or phrases with uniform strength of sound by performing control so that variance in velocity value of successive keying is reduced with respect to velocity control technique of an electronic musical instrument.SOLUTION: After a velocity value of current keying is calculated (velocity value calculation process), a time difference between the current keying and last keying is calculated (time difference calculation process). Then when the time difference is short as compared with a predetermined maximum time, a velocity variation threshold corresponding to the time difference is calculated (velocity variation threshold calculation process).
