Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable selective extraction of light of a desired wavelength from light containing multiple wavelengths by means of a single optical element at a fixed position.SOLUTION: A wavelength selective filter device comprises an optical element with a surface having a periodically varying refractive index, an optical system for making light containing multiple wavelengths enter the optical element at a fixed incident angle, rotating means for rotating the optical element about an axis perpendicular to the surface thereof, and a controller configured to control a rotation angle of the optical element based on a relationship between the rotation angle of the optical element and a wavelength selected by a diffractive grating. Light of a desired wavelength is extracted from the light entering the optical element by controlling the rotation angle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
