Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image defect by suppressing the secular deformation of an image carrier and an electrifying member, thereby improving the electrification performance of the image carrier and to improve the workability of the setup of an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a unit 20 which includes an electrifying member for electrifying an image carrier 8 and a bearing 34 for supporting the electrifying member and an apparatus body 2 to which the unit 20 is attached. The bearing 34 is provided to be switchable between a contact attitude for bringing the electrifying member into contact with the image carrier 8 and a separation attitude for separating the electrifying member from the image carrier 8. In a state before the unit 20 is attached to the apparatus body 2, the bearing 34 is held in the separation attitude. A pressing part 93 provided in the apparatus body 2 presses the bearing 34, according to the attachment of the unit 20 to the apparatus body 2 and the bearing 34 is switched to the contact attitude from the separation attitude.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 18
