Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a carbon material for a negative electrode of a power storage device, by which the specific surface area is never increased even if the diameter of particles is made smaller in order to lower an electric resistance.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a carbon material for a negative electrode of a power storage device comprises: a kneading step for kneading a mixture of a pitch and artificial graphite powder having a 50%-volume cumulative diameter of 1 μm or more but less than 3 μm; an infusibilization step for thermally processing the kneaded mixture at 500°C or under into a thermally processed material; a pulverizing step for pulverizing the thermally processed material into pulverized powder of which artificial graphite particle cores are covered with the pitch; and a sintering step for sintering the pulverized powder into sintered powder.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
