Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cool a lubricant by a simple structure, without increasing the number of oil passages in a lubrication mechanism.SOLUTION: In an in-wheel motor drive device 21 including a motor A, a speed reducer B constituted of a parallel axis gear reducer 39 consisting of a plurality of gears 30-33, a wheel bearing C, and a lubrication mechanism for supplying lubricant to the motor A and speed reducer B by means of a rotary pump 56, where the motor A and speed reducer B are housed in a casing 22, an external oil passage 73, exposed to the outside of the casing 22, is provided in a part of an oil passage 57 for pressure feeding the lubricant from the rotary pump 56 to the motor A, and the external oil passage 73 is coated with a water-retaining material for cooling the lubricant by the heat of vaporization of the water.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】 潤滑機構における油路の数を増加させることなく、簡易な構造でもって潤滑油を冷却する。【解決手段】 モータ部Aと、複数の歯車30〜33からなる平行軸歯車減速機39で構成された減速機部Bと、車輪用軸受部Cと、回転ポンプ56によりモータ部Aおよび減速機部Bに潤滑油を供給する潤滑機構とを備え、モータ部Aおよび減速機部Bをケーシング22に収容したインホイールモータ駆動装置21であって、回転ポンプ56からモータ部Aへ潤滑油を圧送する油路57の一部に、ケーシング22の外部に露呈する外部油路73を設け、その外部油路73は、水による気化熱でもって潤滑油を冷却する保水材で被覆されている。【選択図】 図1
