Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixation device capable of improving strength of a supporting member for supporting a nip formation member so as to prevent bending of the nip formation member.SOLUTION: A fixation device 20 includes: a rotatable endless fixation belt 21; a nip formation member 24 arranged inside the fixation belt 21; a counter rotary body 22 coming into contact with the nip formation member 24 via the fixation belt 21 to form a nip part N between the fixation belt 21 and itself; a heat source 23 for directly heating the fixation belt 21 at a location other than the nip part N; and a supporting member 25 for supporting the nip formation member 24. In the fixation device, a recording medium P carrying an unfixed image is conveyed to the nip part N between the rotating fixation belt 21 and the counter rotary body 22 to fix the unfixed image to the recording medium P.
