Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a continuous variable geometry bore hole within a conductive work piece (102).SOLUTION: An electrochemical machining system (100) for machining the conductive work piece (102) includes a drilling tool (112) configured to remove material from the conductive work piece (102). The drilling tool (112) is configured to advance within the conductive work piece (102) along a tool path to form a bore hole (118) that extends through the conductive work piece (102) in two or more dimensions when the material is removed. The system further includes an inspection device (122) configured to determine a position of the drilling tool (112) along the tool path, and a controller (128) configured to communicate with the inspection device (122). The controller (128) is further configured to compare the tool path to a nominal tool path, and determine a position error of the drilling tool (112), the position error defined by a difference between the tool path and the nominal tool path.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
