Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To vary a water level of a filter medium, in an artificial wetland for water quality improvement and to set a period of water level variation of the filter medium according to a purpose of water quality improvement.SOLUTION: An artificial wetland 10 for water quality improvement comprises: an artificial tideland filter bed 20 which comprises a filter medium 30 having prescribed filter medium thickness, in which a peripheral wall part 24 and a bottom face part 26 are formed of a waterproof frame body 22 and an upper face part 28 is opened to an ambient air side; a water supply part 48 which supplies treatment object water 4 to the filter medium 30; a water drain part 60 for draining treatment water 6 to outside of the waterproof frame body 22; and a siphon pipe mechanism 40, being a filter medium sucking mechanism, which varies a water level in the artificial tideland filter bed 20 at a prescribed respiration term period, sucks fresh air from the ambient air side to the filter medium 30, in a term of water level reduction in which the treatment water 6 is drained from the filter medium 30, and causes the used air to be sucked to the ambient air side from the filter medium 30 in a term of water level increase in which the treatment object water 4 is penetrated in the filter medium 30.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】水質改善用の人工湿地において、濾材水位を変動させ、濾材の水位変動の周期を水質改善の目的に応じて設定することである。【解決手段】水質改善用の人工湿地10は、所定の濾材厚さを有する濾材30を含み周壁部24と底面部26とが防水枠体22で形成され上面部28が大気側に開放される人工干潟濾床20と、処理対象水4を濾材30に給水する給水部48と、防水枠体22の外側へ処理水6を排水する排水部60と、人工干潟濾床20における水位を予め定めた呼吸期間周期で変動させ、濾材30から処理水6を排水させる水位下降の期間において新鮮な空気を大気側から濾材30に吸気させ、濾材30に処理対象水4を浸透させる水位上昇の期間において使用済みとなった空気を濾材30から大気側へ呼気させる濾材呼吸機構であるサイフォン管機構40とを備える。【選択図】図1
