Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cermet suitable for a component of a cutting tool having superior defect resistance under a severe cut environment, a cutting tool using the cermet, and a manufacturing method of the cermet.SOLUTION: In cermet, hard phases containing Ti is bound by binder phases containing at least one of Ni and Co. When an observation visual field in any cross section of the cermet contains more than 200 hard phases, in the hard phases existing within the observation visual field, particle size of more than 70% of the hard phases in all hard phases is in ±30% of mean diameter of all hard phases.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
