Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device that can precisely discriminate a proximity operation involving no contact with a hand being gloved from a contact operation.SOLUTION: An input device 100 includes: a plurality of detection electrodes; an input unit 10 where an operation body conducts an input operation by contact or proximity; a capacity measuring unit 1 measuring an electrostatic capacity for each detection electrode and outputting the measured electrostatic capacity value; and a control unit 3 acquiring an electrostatic capacity value corresponding to a detection electrode from the capacity measuring unit 1 and detecting the position of the operation body from the amount of change in the acquired electrostatic capacity value; and a contact detecting unit 2 detecting contact based on a contact pressure of the operation body on the input unit 10. When the change of amount in the electrostatic capacity value exceeds a first threshold value as a basis for determining an operation by proximity, the control unit 3 determines that a contact operation is being conducted if it has detected contact of the operation body with the input unit 10 from the detection result obtained by the contact detection unit 2 and determines that a proximity operation is being conducted otherwise.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
