PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate that has a polarizer and a protective film bonded with an adhesive of an active ray curable type, the polarizing plate having the protective film laminated on the polarizer with a sufficient strength, and a liquid crystal display device that prevents the occurrence of display unevenness.SOLUTION: There is provided a polarizing plate 10 that has an active ray curable adhesive and a protective film 11 laminated in this order on at least one surface of a polarizer 15, where the protective film 11 includes a surfactant, and cellulose ester having a total substitution degree by an aliphatic acyl group or an aromatic acyl group of 2.1 to 2.95, and the amount of the surfactant to the total mass of the protective film is 0.05 to 2.00 mass%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】偏光子と保護フィルムとが、活性光線硬化型の接着剤で接着されている偏光板であって、保護フィルムが十分な強度で偏光子に貼り合わせられた偏光板、及び表示ムラが生じ難い液晶表示装置を提供する。【解決手段】偏光子１５の少なくとも一方の面に、活性光線硬化型接着層及び保護フィルム１１がこの順に積層された偏光板１０であって、前記保護フィルム１１が、脂肪族アシル基または芳香族アシル基による総置換度が２．１〜２．９５であるセルロースエステルと、界面活性剤とを含み、前記保護フィルムの総質量に対する、前記界面活性剤の量が０．０５〜２．００質量％である偏光板１０とする。【選択図】図１
