Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable manufacturing of an ingot having excellent casting surface.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an ingot 10 made of titanium or titanium alloy comprises the steps of: generating arc discharge between a consumable electrode 3 disposed in a mold 2, and the mold 2 to melt a melting raw material 11 (the consumable electrode 3 and a charging raw material 7) and drop as a droplet 13, while supplying the charging raw material 7 into the mold 2 having a round cross section; and solidifying a molten metal pool 12 formed of the collected droplets 13. For this method, the charging raw material 7 having the concentration of Cl of 0.014% or more is used with the consumable electrode 3 as the melting raw material 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】鋳肌の状態が良好な鋳塊を製造することができるようにする。【解決手段】チャージ原料7を断面円形の鋳型2内に供給しながら、鋳型2内に配置した消耗電極3と鋳型2との間にアーク放電を発生させて、溶解原料11(消耗電極3およびチャージ原料7)を溶解させて溶滴13として滴下させ、溶滴13が集まってなる溶湯プール12を凝固させることで、チタンまたはチタン合金からなる鋳塊10を製造する。このとき、Cl濃度が0.014%以上であるチャージ原料7を消耗電極3とともに溶解原料11として使用する。【選択図】図2
