Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus that has a reverse conveyance structure, which is difficult in reverse conveyance and is capable of both-sided recording, the recording apparatus being able to securely record and read a test pattern.SOLUTION: From a position where the trailing end of paper is detected, paper is conveyed by a predetermined amount in a reverse direction to an area that does not require the use of a reverse conveyance structure.
