Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus capable of generating a joined image in which images are continuously joined to each other even if cross sections of a plurality of non-coplanar cross-sectional images do not intersect with each other.SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus 10 comprises: a static magnetic field generation unit for generating a static magnetic field; a gradient magnetic field generation unit for generating a gradient magnetic field; a transmission coil for applying a high frequency pulse to a subject; original-image generation means 43 for generating a plurality of non-coplanar cross-sectional images on the basis of a signal corresponding to the high frequency pulse; joined-cross section setting means 44 for setting a new cross section different from any of the cross sections of the plurality of cross-sectional images and for setting a joined cross section on the basis of at least one of the cross sections of the plurality of cross-sectional images and the new cross section; joining-target image generation means 45 for generating cross-sectional images relating to the cross sections comprising the joined cross section; and joined-image generation means 46 for generating a joined image by applying join processing to the cross-sectional images relating to the joined cross section.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
