Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface treatment method of a carbon fiber bundle, eliminating needs for a cleaning treatment and a drying treatment after the surface treatment of the carbon fiber bundle.SOLUTION: Plasma gas is generated by introducing an introduction gas containing an inactive gas of 97.0 vol.% to 99.99 vol.%, an active gas of 0.01 vol.% to 3.0 vol.% in a chamber under ambient pressure. Generated plasma gas is sprayed continuously to a sheet shape carbon fiber bundle to conduct a plasma treatment of the carbon fiber bundle. Preferably the total fineness of the sheet shape carbon fiber bundle is 3,000 dtex to 100,000 dtex and fineness per unit width of the sheet shape carbon fiber bundle with which the plasma gas is contacted is 500 dtex/mm to 5000 dtex/mm.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】炭素繊維束の表面処理後の洗浄処理と乾燥処理が不要な、炭素繊維束の表面処理方法を提供する。【解決手段】大気圧下のチャンバ内に、不活性ガス97.0体積%以上99.99体積%以下、活性ガス0.01体積%以上3.0体積%以下で含む導入ガスを導入し、プラズマガスを発生させる。シート形状炭素繊維束に、発生したプラズマガスを連続的に噴出して、同炭素繊維束をプラズマ処理する。シート形状炭素繊維束の総繊度は3,000dtex以上100,000dtex以下、プラズマガスを接触させるシート形状の炭素繊維束の単位幅当たりの繊度は500dtex/mm以上5000dtex/mm以下とすることが好ましい。【選択図】なし
