Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in a case, such as negotiation of video output equipment or extraction of a connection cable, where a video signal is unexpectedly shut off, or the video output equipment projects plain video at low gradation for a long period, it gets dark when a projector peripheral environment gets dark, and it is inconvenient for a user to perform button operation of a projector body or look for the locations of a remote controller and an illumination switch of a room.SOLUTION: A projector automatically detects an unexpected event; measures illuminance of an installation environment; displays a bright plain image at high gradation under a certain illuminance or less; and utilizes it as an auxiliary illumination.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】映像出力機器の交渉や接続ケーブルの抜去等、映像信号が不意に途切れたり、映像出力機器が低諧調の無地の映像を長期間投影している場合、プロジェクタ周辺環境が暗いと暗闇になってしまい、ユーザーがプロジェクタ本体のボタン操作、あるいはリモコン、部屋の照明スイッチの場所を探すのに不便である。【解決手段】このような不測の事態を自動的に検出し、かつプロジェクタが設置環境の照度を測定して、ある照度以下では高諧調の明るい無地の画像を表示して、補助照明として利用する。【選択図】図3
