PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device and a control method therefor capable of easily retrieving and enjoying a photographic image even when it is imaged by a foreign user.SOLUTION: An imaging device includes: an imaging unit 2 for performing photoelectric conversion of an optical image and outputting image data; a feature quantity digitization unit 5a for using the image data to digitize the feature quantity of the image and calculating feature information; a recording unit 3 for recording the feature information by associating it with the image data; and a liquid crystal display unit 8 for displaying the image based on the image data together with a similar image retrieved by using the feature information.
