Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission capable of sealing a gap between a first disc and a shaft oil-tightly without forming a groove in the first disc or the shaft for fitting the seal member in a case of including a pressure device that includes a hydraulic chamber on a back surface of the first disc.SOLUTION: A seal 201 with lips 201b and 201c is provided on an input-side disc (first disc) 2 and the lips 201b and 201c of the seal 201 slidably contact an outer circumferential surface of an input shaft 1 oil-tightly. With this configuration, it is possible to seal a gap between the input-side disc 2 and the input shaft 1 oil-tightly without forming a groove in the input-side disc 2 or the input shaft 1 for fitting a seal member. Owing to this, there is no need to provide the groove in the input-side disc 2 or the input shaft 1 for fitting a conventional seal member, so that it is possible to prevent the generation of a stress resulting from the groove and to increase the strengths of the input-side disc 2 and the input shaft 1.
