PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a profile creation method which allows for creation of a color conversion profile reflecting the average value of color variation, by outputting one color chart by a printer.SOLUTION: A profile creation method for creating a color conversion profile for printer, by outputting a color chart composed of a patch image of the color depending on the combination of values of a plurality of basic colors, extracts a pair of lattice points adjoining each other, from the lattice points of a lookup table indicating the correspondence of the value of color of a patch image and the colorimetric value of a patch image, and determines a lattice point interpolating between a pair of lattice points, by performing interpolation depending on the degree of color variation of a patch image obtained from the data of colorimetric values stored for two patch images corresponding to a pair of lattice points. 【課題】印刷装置により１枚のカラーチャートを出力して、色のバラツキの平均値を反映した色変換プロファイルを作成することができるプロファイル作成方法を提供する。【解決手段】本発明のプロファイル作成方法は、複数の基本色の値の組み合わせに応じた色のパッチ画像から構成されるカラーチャートを印刷装置に出力させて、印刷装置用の色変換プロファイルを作成するプロファイル作成方法であって、パッチ画像の色の値とパッチ画像の測色値との対応関係を示すルックアップテーブルの格子点の中から、互いに隣接する一対の格子点を抽出し、一対の格子点に対応する２つのパッチ画像について蓄積されている測色値のデータから求まるパッチ画像の色のバラツキの程度に応じた補間処理を行って、一対の格子点の間を補間する格子点を求める。【選択図】図６
