Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bonded abrasive article suitable for high-speed grinding operations.SOLUTION: A bonded abrasive article includes a bonded abrasive body having abrasive particles comprising microcrystalline alumina (MCA) contained within a bond material, and the bonded abrasive body comprises a strength ratio (MOR/MOE) of at least about 0.80. In another aspect, the bonded abrasive body comprises a MOR (modulus of rupture) of at least 40 MPa for a MOE (modulus of elasticity) of 40 GPa. The bond material is formed of inorganic compounds, such as oxide compounds. For example, suitable oxide compounds include silicon oxides, boron oxides, phosphorus oxides, alkaline oxide compounds, alkaline earth oxides, and the like.
