Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a space-saving state and effectively remove dust adhered to a catalyst surface.SOLUTION: Catalyst units 13F, 13R each of which has an upstream side catalyzer 12F and a downstream side catalyzer 12R and in each of which a clearances 14 for generating turbulent flow caused by fast expansion of flow passage is formed between the upstream side catalyzer 12F and the downstream side catalyzer 12R, are installed in an upstream segment and a downstream segment, respectively in a reaction container 11. An upstream soot blow device 15F for injecting soot blow gas along exhaust gas G toward the upstream side catalyzer 12F is provided upstream from the upstream segment catalyst unit 13F. A downstream soot blow device 15R for injecting soot blow gas along a reversing direction of exhaust gas toward the downstream side catalyzer 12R is provided downstream from the downstream segment catalyst unit 13R. A complex soot blow device 15M for injecting soot blow gas toward the downstream side catalyzer 12R of the upstream segment catalyst unit 13F and the upstream side catalyzer 12F of the downstream segment catalyst units 13R, respectively is provided between the upstream segment catalyst units 13F and the downstream segment catalyst units 13R.
