PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly feed out paper sheets by suppressing paper jam when feeding the paper sheets irrespective of types of the paper sheets or the number of stored paper sheets.SOLUTION: A sheet feeding device includes: a sheet storing portion for storing paper sheets while placing them on a placing surface; a feeding roller which rotates and sends out the paper sheets while being in contact with a topmost sheet among the paper sheets stored in the sheet storing portion; a transfer member having a supporting surface supporting a downstream side portion of the paper sheets to be stored in a sheet feeding direction by the feeding roller, arranged in a manner that the supporting surface comes into contact with or separate from the feeding roller by moving in a direction perpendicular to the placing surface, and keeping the downstream side portion of the uppermost paper sheet to be a state in contact with the feeding roller by moving perpendicularly to lift the downstream side portion of the paper sheet when the sheet is fed; and an inhibiting member with which a front end of the sheets to be fed by the feeding roller comes into contact to inhibit the sheets other than the topmost sheet from being fed. The supporting surface of the transfer member is formed as an inclined surface inclining upward as proceeding to a downstream side of the sheet feeding direction with respect to the placing surface. 【課題】用紙の紙種や収容枚数にかかわらず、用紙を供給する際の用紙詰まりを抑制して用紙を良好に送り出す。【解決手段】用紙給紙装置は、積載面に用紙を載せて収容する用紙収容部と、用紙収容部に収容される用紙のうち最上に位置する用紙に接触しながら回転して用紙を送り出す送出ロールと、収容される用紙の送出ロールによる送り出し方向下流側の部分が支持される支持面を有し、積載面に垂直の方向に移動することで支持面が送出ロールに対して接触及び離間するように配置され、用紙を送り出すときに垂直の方向に移動して用紙の下流側部分を持ち上げて最上に位置する用紙の下流側部分を送出ロールに対して接触させた状態に保つ移動部材と、送出ロールにより送り出される用紙の先端が接触して最上に位置する用紙以外の用紙の送り出しを阻止する阻止部材とを備え、移動部材の支持面が積載面に対して用紙送り出し方向の下流側に向かうにつれて上昇するように傾く傾斜面として形成されている。【選択図】図５
