Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for safely processing an electrolyte including a fluorine compound and an organic solvent.SOLUTION: A method for processing a fluorine-containing electrolyte comprises the steps of: adding alkaline to the fluorine-containing electrolyte, thereby hydrolyzing carbonic ester included in the fluorine-containing electrolyte; evaporating volatile components included in the fluorine-containing electrolyte by heating the fluorine-containing electrolyte after fixing fluorine and phosphorus included in the fluorine-containing electrolyte; and collecting organic solvent components from an evaporated gas resulting from the evaporation of the volatile components. The method further comprises e.g. the step of charging an alkaline into a waste battery, or the step of immersing a waste battery in an alkali solution, or a combination of the steps of cutting or fracturing a waste battery and adding alkali powder or alkali solution; and the step of thereafter, evaporating the volatile components by heating to collect alcohol, diol, etc. included in the evaporated gas.
