PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical imaging apparatus improving comfort and convenience in an examination, where an apparatus itself is functioned as a lighting system.SOLUTION: The medical imaging apparatus includes: an imaging unit; and a gantry 10 with a bore that stores the imaging unit and in which a subject is inserted. A front face 11 of the gantry and at least a part of an exterior cladding of a lateral face 15 are composed of a translucent member. A light source 30 is disposed inside the exterior cladding. A boundary area between the front face and the lateral face composed of the translucent member has a curved surface shape that diffusely reflects light from the light source 30 to the rearward of the lateral face. As for the front face of the gantry, a peripheral part of an entrance of the bore and external cladding of both sides of a bed connection part are composed of a translucent member so as to transmit the light from the light source. 【課題】検査時の快適性や利便性を向上し、装置自体が照明装置として機能する医用撮像装置を提供する。【解決手段】撮像ユニットと、撮像ユニットを収納するとともに被検体が挿入されるボアを有するガントリ１０とを備え、ガントリの前面１１及び前面に続く側面１５の外装の少なくとも一部が半透光性の部材からなり、外装の内側に光源３０が配置されており、半透光性の部材からなる前面と側面との境界領域の形状は、光源３０からの光を側面の後方に拡散反射させる曲面形状である。さらにガントリの前面は、ボアの入口の周辺部と寝台連結部の両側の外装が半透光性の部材からなり、光源３０から光を透過する。【選択図】図３
