Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently merge snapshots.SOLUTION: A storage control device 10 which creates snapshots of multiple generations of a storage device 21 includes: a first calculation unit 112 which calculates the number of areas which are updated in a first snapshot to be deleted among the multi-generation snapshots and not updated in a second snapshot subsequent to the generation of the first snapshot, as a first area count; a second calculation unit 113 which calculates the number of areas updated in the second snapshot as a second area count; and a determination unit 114 which determines the second snapshot to be merged in merge processing when the first area count is equal to or larger than the second area count, and determines the first snapshot to be merged in the merge processing when first area count is less than the second area count.
