PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an organic EL display device of bottom emission structure including a color filter easily.SOLUTION: An organic EL display device includes a display device body 1 and a color filter 30 separately from each other. The display device body 1 includes a base substrate 2 having a first surface 2a and a second surface 2b facing oppositely from each other, and a plurality of pixels 3 arranged on the first surface 2a of the base substrate 2. Each of the plurality of pixels 3 includes a plurality of sub-pixels 4R, 4G, 4B. When viewing from a direction perpendicular to the first surface 2a and second surface 2b, the outer edge of each of the plurality of sub-pixels includes a plurality of sides. The thickness of the base substrate 2 is within a range of 1/50-1/2 of the length of shortest side out of the all sides included in the plurality of outer edges of the plurality of sub-pixels. The color filter 30 is stuck to the second surface 2b of the base substrate 2. 【課題】カラーフィルタを備えたボトムエミッション構造の有機ＥＬ表示装置を容易に実現する。【解決手段】有機ＥＬ表示装置は、互いに別個の表示装置本体１とカラーフィルタ３０とを備えている。表示装置本体１は、互いに反対側に向いた第１の面２ａおよび第２の面２ｂを有するベース基板２と、ベース基板２の第１の面２ａの上に配列された複数の画素３とを備えている。複数の画素３の各々は、複数の副画素４Ｒ，４Ｇ，４Ｂを含んでいる。第１の面２ａおよび第２の面２ｂに垂直な方向から見たときに、複数の副画素の各々の外縁は複数の辺を含んでいる。ベース基板２の厚みは、複数の副画素の複数の外縁に含まれる全ての辺のうち最も短い辺の長さの１／５０から１／２の範囲内である。カラーフィルタ３０は、ベース基板２の第２の面２ｂに貼り付けられている。【選択図】図１
