Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subject information acquisition device capable of precisely detecting artifact resulting from multiple reflection of an acoustic wave.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition device acquires information of the inside of a subject 3 by receiving an acoustic wave from the inside of the subject 3 through a layer 4 having an acoustic impedance different from that of the subject and analyzing the acoustic wave, and includes: an acoustic wave probe 5 that receives the acoustic wave and converts it into an electric signal; whole image generation means 6 that generates a whole image which is an image showing the information of the inside of the subject 3, on the basis of the converted electric signal; partial image generation means 7 that extracts a partial image which is a part of the whole image; and similar image retrieval means 8 that retrieves an area similar to the partial image from the whole image.
