Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that can prevent cracks in a liquid crystal display panel without increasing the size of the device.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel 10, a cover plate 24 that is arranged opposite to the surface of the liquid crystal display panel 10 on which images are displayed, and a backlight that is arranged opposite to the rear face of the liquid crystal display panel 10. The backlight includes a frame 34 that is opposite to the peripheral part of the rear face of the liquid crystal display panel 10. The liquid crystal panel 10 has a rectangular planar shape having at least one notched corner part. The frame 34 includes a columnar part 36 that rises in a direction of the cover plate 24 to be fall within the area of the at least one notched corner part.
