Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel material having corrosion resistance superior to that of an electromagnetic stainless steel and excellent magnetic properties at a moderate price.SOLUTION: There is provided the steel material excellent in corrosion resistance and magnetic properties satisfying C:0.001 to 0.025% (mass%, same below for chemical components), Si:1.0 to 4.0%, Mn:0.1 to 1.0%, P:0.030% or less (excluding 0%), S:0.10% or less (excluding 0%), Cr:4.0% or less (excluding 0%), Al:0.010% or less (excluding 0%) and N:0.01% or less (excluding 0%), the balance comprising iron and inevitable impurities. In the steel material, an oxidized film containing Si and/or Cr and an amorphous layer and having a thickness of 50 to 500 nm is formed on a surface of the steel material.
