Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for applying a lubricating dispersion to glass gobs without requiring manual intervention to do so.SOLUTION: A system and method for coating a glass gob with a liquid-based lubricating dispersion during its drop to a glass container blank mold, provides sufficient lubrication to the glass container mold without requiring swabbing of the glass container mold. The lubricating dispersion is sprayed onto a hot glass gob as it falls from the gob supply system prior to its distribution by the gob supply system into a blank mold. The lubricating dispersion coats the falling glass gob to lubricate the glass gob as well as the mold.
