Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-weight traveling-wave tube for a communication satellite, having a high cost effect.SOLUTION: A method for operating a traveling-wave tube module (20) for a communication satellite (10) includes the steps of: receiving a high frequency signal (22) from an antenna (12) of the satellite (10); determining whether to amplify the high frequency signal (22); increasing a cathode current of a traveling-wave tube (30) to a predetermined operation value when the high frequency signal (22) is to be amplified; and amplifying the high frequency signal (22) using the traveling-wave tube (30). |
