Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical lithium ion secondary battery with excellent productivity and a method of manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A cylindrical lithium ion secondary battery has a wound electrode body constituted by laminating a positive electrode and a negative electrode via a separator and spirally winding the laminate and a nonaqueous electrolyte in a bottomed cylindrical outer can. The negative electrode includes two or more current collecting tabs, one of the two or more current collecting tabs is made of copper, the two or more current collecting tabs are integrally welded, and the integrated product of the two or more current collecting tabs is welded to the inner surface of the bottom part of the outer can. Phosphor copper exists in the welded junction of the two or more current collecting tabs.
