Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decontamination method having an improved decontamination effect, which prevents a toxic substance detached from an object to be decontaminated from being reattached to the object to be decontaminated.SOLUTION: The decontamination method includes: feeding a polyion water 91 in a container 90, feeding an object 100 to be decontaminated of which surface is attached with a toxic substance into the polyion water 91 in the container 90, imparting pressure waves to the object 100 to be decontaminated so that the toxic substance is detached from the object 100 to be decontaminated. A discharge device 1 which generates pressure waves 95 by discharge is used as a pressure wave generating device for generating the pressure waves. The discharge device 1 has a discharge electrode part 6 which is arranged in the polyion water in the container for discharging. The discharge imparts the pressure waves 95 to the object 100 to be decontaminated in the polyion water 91.
