Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detection of the risk of obesity and the risk of onset of diabetes in individuals that are not diagnosed to be obese or to be in diabetes.SOLUTION: There are provided a method for measuring the expression level of follistatin-related 3 (FSTL3) gene in a sample of individual with a BMI value of 25 or under that is not clinically determined to be obese, and associating the measured expression level with the detection of the risk of reaching obesity and the risk of reaching the onset of diabetes, and further a method for measuring the expression level of inhibin B gene and associating it with the detection of the risk of reaching the obesity or the onset of diabetes from the ratio of expression levels of FSTL 3 gene and inhibin B gene.
