Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide, in optically coupling an optical fiber outside a housing of an optical module to an optical component inside the housing, the optical module capable of ensuring airtightness inside the housing and firmly fixing an optical connecting component such as an optical fiber holding member and the housing to each other.SOLUTION: An optical module according to the present invention includes: a housing accommodating an optical component; a circular-shaped transmission window formed on one surface of the housing; a cylindrical-shaped window frame fixed on an inner wall of the transmission window and optically communicating with an inside of the housing; a cylindrical-shaped optical fiber holding member whose end face is fixed inside the window frame toward the inner side of the housing and into which an optical fiber is inserted so as to make an end face and a central axis thereof coincide with those of the optical fiber holding member respectively; and a columnar-shaped gradient index lens which is fixed inside the window frame, and whose end face in the outer side of the housing is fixed to the end face of the optical fiber holding member and whose central axis coincides with that of the optical fiber holding member by having the same outer diameter with that thereof.
