Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination device capable of enhancing its design by making the best use of shape characteristics of a light-emitting element itself.SOLUTION: An illumination device 1 includes a light-emitting element 2, a wire 3 connected with the light-emitting element 2 and supplying power to the same 2, and translucent resin 4 integrally retaining the light-emitting element 2 and the wire 3. The translucent resin 4 forms an outer shape of a body of the illumination device 1 by itself, and guides light emitted from the light-emitting element 2, and emits the light from an outer surface thereof. The light-emitting element 2 as a light source seems to be floated in the translucent resin 4 since the translucent resin 4 itself retaining the light-emitting element 2 forms the outer shape of the body of the illumination device 1 in this structure, and enhanced design of the illumination device 1 can be attained by making the best use of shape characteristics of the light-emitting element 2 itself.
