Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controlled release nanoparticle composition comprising a nanoparticulate agonist to be administered, and a rate-controlling polymer which functions to prolong the release of the agonist following administration.SOLUTION: The composition is a controlled release nanoparticle composition comprising: (a) a slightly soluble agonist which can be administrated and has an effective average particle size of less than about 1,000 nm; (b) at least one surface stabilizer associating with the surface of the agonist; and (c) at least one pharmaceutically acceptable rate-controlling polymer, wherein the composition provides controlled release of the agonist following administration for a time period ranging from about 2 to about 24 hours or longer.
