Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for executing information retrieval, more detailedly, retrieval by using a query written in a character set or a language different from at least a portion of a character set or a language of a sentence to be retrieved.SOLUTION: A user can present an ambiguous retrieval query and receive an appropriate retrieval result by a method and a device agreeing to this invention. A query can be represented by using a character set and/or a language different from at least a portion of a character set and/or a language of data to be retrieved. Conversion between the character sets and/or languages can be executed by verifying word usage in a linked text. Probabilities can be associated with respective possible changes. Improvement can be applied to the possibilities by verifying interaction of the user by using the retrieval result.
