Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extended spherical LNG storage tank and a method for manufacturing the same, in which junctions between connection parts of an LNG storage tanks installed on an LNG carrier and upper and lower tank parts are configured gradually so as to increase the storage capacity of the LNG storage tank, while mitigating a stress concentration phenomenon on the junction, and in which the connection tank part is constructed by connecting a plurality of plate pieces to thus facilitate the manufacturing and working, thereby allowing the manufacturing work of the LNG storage tank to be performed quickly and easily.SOLUTION: The connection tank part 40 is formed of connection of a plurality of the plate pieces with different thickness to an equatorial part 45. The plate pieces are connected so that the pieces become thicker from the upper tank part 20 side the lower tank part 30 side. A plate piece to be connected nearest to the lower tank part among the plate pieces with different thickness is thicker than the lower tank part. |
