Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device capable of achieving stable photographing operation by eliminating instability associated with movement of a photographing apparatus.SOLUTION: The imaging device includes: an imaging unit (15); a main body part (11c); and a bottom (11a) which can, when the imaging device is placed on a plane, transit from a first state in which the body part can swing to a second state in which the body part is upright without swinging or vice versa. The imaging device further includes: a support member (101) connected to the main body part movably in a tilting direction and having a rotating support unit (101c) rotatably supporting the imaging unit in two-axis directions respectively orthogonal to the main body unit; a slide member (17) movably attached to the support member; and head portion drive means (103, 104) driving the imaging unit in a panning direction relative to the main body unit. When moving in the tilting direction, the support member moves the slide member according to an angle in the tilting direction.
