Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating agent having the absorbing/shielding function of infrared rays to be coated on a glass surface for the countermeasure strongly demanded for the prevention of: the temperature rise of room interiors and car interiors due to invasion of ultraviolet rays and infrared rays of solar light from glass surfaces of buildings and car windows; the sunburn of human bodies due to ultraviolet rays; and the deteriorations and damages of commodities and exhibits.SOLUTION: The coating agent having the absorbing/shielding function of infrared rays is prepared by mixing as a main agent an inorganic pigment of tin oxide, zinc oxide and indium oxide doped with dissimilar metals as an infrared absorbent, with an inorganic coloring pigment as an infrared absorbent auxiliary agent, and further adding an alkoxysilane compound as an inorganic binder to the resultant mixture, to thereby obtain a mixed liquid, and adding a curing accelerator and a drying-rate regulator to the mixed liquid to thereby obtain a coating agent. The coating agent can simply be coated on a glass surface, and is good in durability and pot life.
