Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a vitrified grinding wheel in which porosity is improved and a bonding property around abrasive grains is enhanced.SOLUTION: In a green compact 17, a second vitreous member 13 is in contact with a first vitreous member 12 and the second vitreous members 13 are adhered to each other. However, a clearance 18 is formed between that first and second vitreous members 12 and 13 due to a difference of their grain sizes. The green compact 17 is put into an airtight kiln. The kiln is evacuated, and a nitrogen gas is blown into the kiln, and while keeping a nitrogen gas atmosphere, the kiln is heated to a burning temperature. Thus, the first vitreous member 12 with a small grain size is melted at first, and abrasive grains 11 are joined with the second vitreous members 13. The second vitreous members 13 are melted while leaving the clearance 18, thereby demonstrating bonding action among the abrasive grains 11. The clearance causes the generation of many pores. The bonding property around the abrasive grains can be improved by the first vitreous member. |
