PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolytic capacitor capable of sufficiently reducing leakage current by a defective part of a dielectric layer and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a solid electrolytic capacitor comprises: a dielectric layer formation step 22 of forming a dielectric layer on an anode composed of a valve action metal or its alloy; electrodeposition processing step 23 of forming an insulating thin film layer on the dielectric layer in an electrodeposition method; denaturation processing step 24 of denaturating the insulating thin film layer by applying voltage to the anode in which the insulating thin film layer was formed on the dielectric layer in an electrolytic solution; and an electrolyte layer formation step 25 of forming an electrolyte layer on the insulating thin film layer.
