Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system that maintains excellent image quality when a first mode, which performs double-sided printing where two sides are printed separately with the use of an image forming apparatus 100A and an image forming apparatus 100B, is switched to a second mode, which performs double-sided printing only with the image forming apparatus 100A.SOLUTION: If toner runs out in an image forming apparatus 100B during operation of a first mode, an image forming system switches the operation mode to a second mode that performs double-sided printing using a reverse transfer mechanism in an image forming apparatus 100A. After switching the first mode to the second mode, the image forming system waits for temperature of a fixing roller of a fixing device 201B in the image forming apparatus 100B to fall to 90°C before starting the second mode.
