PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device having the flexibility of arrangement position of a light source substrate with a light source mounted, and to provide a surface light source device of narrow frame and thin type by preventing large sizing and thick thickness of the frame due to formation position of an installation part for fixing the surface light source device and the other members.SOLUTION: The light source substrate 31 has a mounting part 311 of a point light source 3 arranged along a side surface 2b of a rear frame 2, and a cut-out 312 is provided at a position corresponding to the installation part 2c for the purpose of fixing or so to other members formed on the side surface 2b of the rear frame 2. Further, the light source substrate 31 includes a wiring part 313 for forming a wiring pattern in order to supply power to the point light source 3 mounted on the mounting part 311, and the wiring part 313 is arranged by being bent along a bending line on a bottom 2d side which is nearly perpendicular to the side surface 2b of the rear frame 2.
