Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for drying wood chips that can suppress variation in a water content of the wood chips thrown in a waste gasification melting furnace, and reliably obtain a suppressing effect of a blow-by phenomenon and a decreasing effect of the used amount of coke by throwing the wood chips.SOLUTION: In waste treating equipment, exhaust gas from the waste gasification melting furnace 3 is burned in a combustion chamber 5, heat is recovered by a boiler 6, and steam generated in the boiler 6 is condensed by a steam condenser 13. The wood chips 14 thrown in the waste gasification melting furnace 3 are dried by using the discharged heat generated in the steam condenser 13.
