Abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for quenching annular bodies using a continuous quenching furnace, with which quench distortion, not only warpage distortion, but also elliptical distortion, can be suppressed, and which exhibits high productivity.SOLUTION: The continuous quenching furnace to be used includes: a heating furnace 1 for continuously heating workpieces while conveying the workpieces with a belt 3; a feeder 2 for leading the workpieces so that the workpieces can be placed in a state of directing its diameter direction along a horizontal direction on the conveyance belt 3; a container 7 which accommodates a quenching medium 8 therein; and a shooter 4 for making the heated workpieces fall on a conveyance mesh belt 9 arranged in the container 7 from the conveyance belt 3. The conveyance mesh belt 3 leads the workpieces to the outside of the container 7 while immersing the workpieces in the quenching medium 8. The method includes moving all of the workpieces 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b made of annular bodies respectively on the feeder 2 and the conveyance belt 3 of the heating furnace 1 while holding them in a state where the outer circumferential faces are not brought into contact with one another and they are piled on by two pieces in a vertical direction, and moving all of the workpieces 10 on the conveyance mesh belt 9 while holding them in a state where they are not brought into contact with one another. |
