Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an RF coil device for a shoulder for use in MRI, which can be naturally worn in both arm-lifted and arm-lowered states and which secures sufficient coil sensitivity.SOLUTION: In one embodiment, the RF coil device includes a base plate, a belt member, a first coil element, a second coil element in a base plate, and a connector section. The belt member, which has one end and the other end coupled to locations away from each other on the base plate so that its central part can be positioned on the front side of the base plate, is bent so that a cavity for inserting a subject's arm can be formed between the central portion and the front side of the base plate in a coupled state. The first coil element, which comprises a first partial coil in the belt member and a second partial coil in the base plate, is formed into a looped coil element by connecting both the first and second partial coils together. The connector section makes the base plate and the belt member detachably coupled together, and makes the first and second partial coils connected together in the coupled state.
