Abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide optical glass with devitrification resistance and highly transparent to visible light even while having a lower Abbe number ( ) and a higher refractive index (n), a preform for precision press forming and an optical element.SOLUTION: This optical glass contains, in mass%, 5.0-40.0% POcomponent and 30.0-70.0% NbOcomponent, and has a refractive index (n) of 1.80 or more. Also, the preform for precision press forming and the optical element comprise the optical glass.
